Protecting Classified Information Is TOP Priority for SCIF Global Technologies, LLC.
SCIFs are custom-built structures that prevent security breaches.
JACKSONVILLE, FL — June 6, 2017
With today’s highly publicized national security threats and breaches, protection of classified information is high on the collective priority list of the American public. The woman-owned SCIF Global Technologies, LLC., in Jacksonville, Florida, is on top of this pressing issue.
In February, the President discussed the Korean missile launch with the Japanese Prime Minister and our National Security Advisor at a dinner party. They were in full view of wait staff, guests, and their camera- and microphone-equipped phones. The important question of what measures government officials should take to protect sensitive information became part of the public arena.
In preparation for the President’s meeting to discuss Russian interference in the U.S. election, a temporary structure was built inside Trump Tower. Specially designed to protect sensitive information, this structure is called a SCIF or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. All SCIFs:
- Are self-contained rooms within buildings or independent structures.
- Can be permanent, like the Situation Room at the White House.
- Can be temporary, like the structure at Trump Tower.
- Are specialized and complex structures.
- Must comply with intelligence community specifications to prevent the accidental or purposeful breach of physical documents, sound, and electronic signals.
- Have their own power, encrypted phone lines, and security systems both inside and outside the structure.
Clients requesting SCIFs often require the utmost discretion and protection from publicity. Jaye Andone leads a team of experts in building SCIFs at SCIF Global Technologies, LLC. The company’s primary customer is the Department of Defense. SGT also builds units for government agencies and government defense contractors. SGT is a participant in the US Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program and is an Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business with the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business program. SGT specializes in “mobile modular portable SCIF units,” says Andone, “which gives our customers the flexibility to relocate them.”
Andone describes the SCIF as a “secure room that guards against electronic surveillance and suppresses data leakage of sensitive information.” SCIF Global Technologies custom builds the units to the customer’s technical requirements and manufactures most of the facilities in Florida. It takes about 90-120 days to build a unit, Andone says.
